Artist Francis Antony Kodankandath received the 46th National Akademi Award for the painting titled ‘Restoration Within’ in 2004. Artist Kodankandath tries to convey the message of Self-Restoration or Spiritual Renewal using a real life example of the restoration of a colossal structure, a cathedral in Kerala, India.

India Today Group selected Artist Kodankandath to paint the portrait of H E Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, The President of India, for their 50th Anniversary special Issue of Readers Digest Magazine. The Week Magazine selected the Artist to paint the portrait of Mrs. Indira Gandhi former Prime Minister of India. Artist had been nominated to participate in All India Artists Camp by Central Board of Direct Taxes, New Delhi.
