Artist Kodankandath created a series of 21 Khadi Canvas paintings based on 7 plays written by World Renowned Dramatist, Padmabhushan Kavalam Narayana Panicker, which were later exhibited at Shakespeare Theater, London.
These paintings were also displayed at Bharat Bhavan, an autonomous multi-arts complex and museum in Bhopal, India. It was also exhibited when the dramatist was honored by Sangeet Natak Akademi Delhi, conducting a ‘Kavalam Drama’ week, 7 plays for 7 days. The paintings were additionally displayed at the Indian Institute of Management, Calicut, during a drama seminar taught by Kavalam.
Kavalam being a traditional man who enjoyed the countryside with his folk style clothing and instruments had requested Kodankandath to make him something traditional, hence why the artist created his artwork depicting each play on Khadi Scroll Canvases.
