Category Description

This is a collection of a series of paintings where Kodankandath studies world famous artworks by Raja Ravi Varma, a celebrated Indian painter and artist. He is considered as greatest painter in Indian art history.  Artist Kodankandath repainted them repeatedly with variations to different elements of the original painting in order to break them down and analyze them.

Kodankandath attempts to break down Ravi Varma’s well known painting titled ‘Sakunthala’. The variations would consist of the entire painting repainted with and without some of the existing elements for example, one painting would have more emphasis on the woman furthest away, another would focus on the second and another on the one in the front,or even just their outline to show the scenic beauty behind.
