Category Description

A collection of 23 paintings created on board flights from Indian Airlines, 3000 feet in the air. Being a customs officer, Artist Kodankandath had always been assigned or granted the privilege of being an officer on duty to escort passengers on numerous domestic flights, across India. During the return flights, the artist had a lot more time as he was technically off duty. This is when inspiration struck to paint what he saw when he was high up in the sky flying over everything 3000 feet in the air.

For a major solo exhibition showcasing the Skyscapes series, the artist had invited 3 important heads of three different religions, Bishop Paul Chittilappilly, Swami Adyathmanandha  Saraswathi and Late Jana Panakkad  Mohmed Ali Shihab Thangal, head of Muslim League. Together they had inaugurated the exhibition by painting on a common canvas. Academy chairman and popular cartoonist from Kerala, Yesudasan, had preceded over the function. The  Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Parliamentary Affairs, V. Muraleedharan  had inaugurated the seminar before the inaugural function.
